This year too, through the Assam Linguistic Minority Development Board, various districts of Assam are organizing Rabindra Sangeet and Rabindra Nritya competitions based on age groups to celebrate the 163rd birth anniversary of the world poet Rabindranath Tagore.
To participate in the main event, a local selection round will first be held. In Hailakandi district, auditions for Rabindra Sangeet and Rabindra Nritya will be held on June 8 and 9, completely free of charge.
The auditions will be held in three categories at the Shyam Sundar Utsav Bhavan on Kalibari Road in Hailakandi town.
On June 8, the Rabindra Sangeet selection round will take place, and on June 9, the Rabindra Nritya selection round will be held.
There are three categories for the selection rounds in both divisions: Category A for ages 8 to 12, Category B for ages 13 to 17, and Category C for ages 18 to 35.
From these, one participant from Category A, two participants from Category B, and three participants from Category C will advance to the next stage.
In total, 12 contestants from the music and dance divisions combined will represent Hailakandi district in the final round in Guwahati.
On June 21, 22, and 23, representatives from each district of the state will present their songs and dances at the Shankardev Kalakshetra in Guwahati.
On behalf of the development board, cultural worker Shankar Choudhury has been appointed as the district coordinator for Hailakandi, and Deep Shankar Paul and Pritam Dey have been appointed as members of the Hailakandi center to manage the entire event.
