In separate incidents, two individuals lost their lives in railway accidents today in Hailakandi district.
The first accident occurred on the rail tracks near Panchgram. Kutul Uddin (30) was fatally injured in a collision with the Shilchar-Shialdaha passenger train.
Local residents initially rushed Kutul Uddin to Shilchar Medical College in critical condition. However, he succumbed to his injuries upon reaching the hospital.
Meanwhile, at around noon, another railway accident took place near the Matijuri rail crossing in Hailakandi town. On this occasion, a person lost his life after being hit by a train.
The deceased, identified as Ajit Samanta (54), was an e-rickshaw driver. Railway police retrieved his body from the tracks at the accident site. According to local accounts, Ajit, a resident of ward no 2 of Hailakandi town met his demise in a collision with a goods train bound for Hailakandi to Bhairabi .
