The 20th board installation ceremony of Hailakandi Rotary Club was held on Sunday. In the presence of Zone 15 Assistant Governor Dr. Arunava Choudhury, Bibhabhushan Chakraborty took over as the new President, and Indranil Chakraborty as the new Secretary.
Due to the absence of outgoing President Bijoyini Bhattacharjee and Secretary Lutfur Rahman Barbhuiya, Vice President Dr. Manab Nath and former President and Installation Officer Shankar Choudhury transferred the responsibilities on their behalf.
The club’s annual publication, “Sankalp,” was unveiled during the event. Installation Chairman Samiran Paul welcomed everyone, and former President Dr. Manab Nath highlighted some of the past year’s activities. Indranil Chakraborty discussed the projects from the previous year.
Dr. Arunava Choudhury spoke about the current activities of Rotary and advised promoting the good work of all clubs in the Barak Valley. He also encouraged financial contributions to the Rotary Foundation.
The event included a short cultural program featuring performances by renowned singers from the Barak Valley. Twenty sky lanterns were lit and fireworks were displayed to celebrate the club’s 20th anniversary. Members from various Rotary clubs across the three districts of the Barak Valley attended the celebration and congratulated the new board. Members of the local Rotaract and Inner Wheel Clubs were also present.
