Hailakandi Municipality’s 12th ward witnessed a record number of votes in favor of the BJP candidate in the by-election. The response from the minority community has been evident in the results announced today.
BJP candidate Sudipta Sengupta has secured a substantial victory in this by-election, defeating the nearest independent candidate with a massive margin of 552 votes. The Congress managed to gain only 86 votes in this ward.
On December 19, the voting process for the by-election in the ward no-12 took place at two polling centres in Indra kumari Girls High School. The counting of votes began today at 8 AM.
In total, in the by-election of the ward n0-12, the BJP achieved a record 683 votes. On the other hand, the independent candidate received 131 votes, and the Congress only managed to secure 81 votes. The Returning Officer invalidated a total of 35 votes.
Chandan Sengupta led from the front in the by-election for the 12th ward. He was the face of the BJP. Therefore, Chandan’s management played a significant role in the BJP’s massive victory.

The winning candidate Sudipta Sengupta, stated that She has secured this record vote for the welfare of the area and emphasized her commitment to good work.
On the other hand, Ward Commissioner Manab Chakraborty mentioned that despite Congress MLA Kamalakya Dey Purkayasta campaigning overnight in this ward, the Congress finished in third position.
Hailakandi town is expected to contribute a record number of votes for the BJP even in the upcoming Lok Sabha election, also.
