The ward No. 12 of the Hailakandi municipality has witnessed intense campaigning by both the ruling and opposition parties, today. The ruling party, BJP, organized a rally in this ward to boost the campaign for their party candidate.
In this By- Election, prominent members of the BJP, including the district president Swapan Bhattacharya, General Secretary Swapan Paul, BJYM district president Milon Das, and municipal Chairman Kalyan Goswami, were present.
The BJP conducted a door-to-door campaign with their candidate Sudipta Sengupta in this ward.
Later, the district BJP president, Swapan Bhattacharya, informed the media that the election result would be one-sided, predicting a 100% victory for their candidate Sudipta. He mentioned that Sudipta is expected to win with a significant percentage of votes, while the Congress candidate will face defeat.
On the other hand, the Congress candidate, Mousumi Sarma, led a vigorous campaign with MLA Kamalakha Dey Purkayasta in Hailakandi on the second day. Former MLA Anwar Hussain Laskar joined the Congress campaign today. Additionally, the Congress continues its door-to-door campaign in full swing.
The campaign for the upcoming by-election has concluded at 4 PM today. Both the Congress and BJP are putting their full strength into the campaign today.
It’s noteworthy that there are 1,554 voters in ward No. 12 of Hailakandi municipality, including 390 Muslim voters.
Among the total votes, Muslims constitute 25%.
The district Congress president, Sam Uddin Barlaskar, mentioned that the Congress is reaching out to minority voters as a vote bank.
He expressed optimism that Congress would gain support from many Hindu voters along the minority community.
Sam Uddin Barlaskar, the president of the district Congress, is hopeful that Congress will perform well in this By- election, and he anticipates the BJP to face defeat in this ward.
It’s worth mentioning that Sam uddin Barlaskar himself is a voter of ward no.12, adding an extra dimension to the election dynamics.
