Hailakandi , 2 February
The construction work of the four-lane road under the Assam Mala project is progressing rapidly in Hailakandi District.
Chief Minister Dr. Himanta Biswa Sharma laid the foundation stone for the improvement of the Bhanga-Hailakandi-Dhurbandha road under the Assam Mala project on September 8 last year.
This road, which costs 263 crore rupees, is undergoing renovation and improvement work at a fast pace.
A new RCC bridge is being constructed over the Katakhal River on this approximately 23-kilometer long road with four lanes.
Today, the Additional Deputy Commissioner Tridib Roy inspected the construction work under the Assam Mala project in various places of the district.
He inspected the ongoing work in Badhailakandi village where an RCC bridge will be built over the Kathakhal River under the Assam Mala project.
Additionally, he also inspected the renovation work and construction of the Bhanga-Saraspur four-lane road. Later, ADC Roy informed journalists that under the Assam Mala project, state and district roads are being transformed into high-speed roads akin to national highways.
The Assam Mala project aims to connect 21 villages in Hailakandi district. He further mentioned that after the completion of land acquisition for road construction, the construction agency has expedited the work.
Various religious, educational, and personal establishments along the road have been relocated.
However, entering the Hailakandi city under the Assam Mala project will not lead to any arbitrary demolition or disruption of commercial establishments.
The road will undergo improvement from existing footpaths to footpaths throughout the city under the Assam Mala project. ADC Roy also mentioned that “Assam Mala”, the dream project of Assam CM, will be completed by December 2025 in Hailakandi District.
